Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk

The Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk would have to be one of the quintessential walks to do in Sydney, Australia's largest capital city. If you are visiting Sydney on your travels and are looking for a good coastal walk, or want to spend a day exploring different Sydney beaches and bays, this walk is for you.

Bondi Beach

At just over 6km long and traversing through a number of popular Sydney beaches and bays, this walk is sure to delight the senses and should take 1-2 hours each way (2-4 hours for the return trip), depending on speed and how many times you stop for a rest or photo opportunity. Filled with tourists and locals alike, this walk can be done at any time of the day, but my personal favourite is to start it after watching the sunrise over Bondi Beach.

The walk is well maintained and only requires an average level of fitness. The walk can be done one way (you can catch public transport back) or my favourite, as a return trip. If at any point during the journey you have had enough, you can just turn around and head back for that coffee you are craving.

The walk starts at the world famous Bondi Beach (Bondi Rescue anyone?) and heads in a south direction, ending at Coogee Beach. Along the way you will pass the famous Bondi Icebergs, where you can purchase a casual pass if you want to have a swim at this famous location.

Tamarama Beach, Bronte Beach, Clovelly Beach and Gordons Bay are some popular places to stop on the walk before finally getting to Coogee Beach.

While any of these beaches would be a lovely place to stop and take a dip, if you are looking for a place that has some decent snorkelling, then Gordons Bay is for you. This small bay is popular with divers and snorkellers (I've been diving here a number of times) and has a 600m underwater nature trail.

Coogee Beach is the perfect place to finish this gorgeous walk (or an even better half way point if you do the return trip!). Another of Sydney's famous and favourite beaches, this place is great for a swim, or you can relax after your walk and enjoy some much deserved food at the many dining options in the area. If the open water is not for you but you want to get wet, check out the free baths on the northern side of the beach.

Once back at Bondi Beach, reward yourself with a latte and acai bowl from one of the many cafes in the area. My favourite at the moment is Glory Days, located at the northern end of the pavilion

The Bondi to Coogee walk is the perfect way to experience some of the best that Sydney has to offer and who knows, maybe you'll even spot some dolphins and whales on your walk! Tip: Mackenzies Point is a good place to stop and have a look.

P.S. Want to combine this walk with another must do walk, away from the Sydney city area? Head to the Blue Mountains, all the way up to Blackheath and give the majestic Grand Canyon Walk a go. Another walk easily completed by the average person and one of the top walks to do in the area.
